The domestic character of the project provides a welcome alternative to the institutional and clinical aspects of extended care. 	DOUGLAS H. RAPELJE LODGE* WELLAND, ONTARIO The programme called for a new home for 120 residents, configured as four 30 resident houses, with a central building surrounding an entry court. The domestic nature of the building reflects current trends in long term care facilities. The houses are relatively self-sufficient with enclosed garden spaces for the enjoyment of the residents. The central building contains a central town square focus with administrative offices, central kitchen, laundry, chapel, tuckshop, and meeting spaces.
